Concrete is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. A little care — especially sealing — keeps it looking new and protects your investment through our harsh summers.
Sealing isn't essential on a plain slab, but it's well worth it — particularly for exposed aggregate, coloured, stencilled and stamped finishes. A good seal repels oil and stains, deepens the colour, reduces dusting and helps the surface shrug off our UV. As a guide, re-seal decorative finishes every 2–4 years, and plain driveways whenever the surface starts to look thirsty.
Oil stains are the classic driveway eyesore. Fresh ones lift with a degreaser; older ones may need a poultice or a re-seal to mask. For sun, a quality seal with UV resistance keeps coloured and stamped finishes from fading. If your driveway is already looking tired, dusty or stained, a clean-and-reseal — or a resurface for worse cases — can bring it right back. Decorative finishes (exposed aggregate, coloured, stamped) roughly every 2–4 years; plain concrete whenever the surface starts looking dry or porous.
Plain concrete handles a gentle wash fine, but keep pressure washers and harsh acids off decorative and sealed finishes, as they can etch or strip them.
Fresh spills lift with cat litter then a degreaser. Older stains may need a poultice or a re-seal to hide. We can advise or resurface if it's beyond cleaning.
